New Sony Xperia Compact is on its way, first renders leak
Smartphone companies have slowly moved away from compact flagships, with only Apple managing to deliver a small yet powerful handset in 2020 - the iPhone 12 mini.
According to info from OnLeaks, Sony is about to deliver a compact smartphone and it may well be a member of the premium Compact line. However, a different source from Japan says it may not be a flagship, but rather an entry-level device powered by Snapdragon 480 chipset. Either way we get some live images of the phone.
The images reveal a tiny device with some key design elements we’ve seen in previous Xperia devices - tall screen, dedicated camera button, vertical cam setup. However, it looks like it won’t escape the plague of waterdrop notches for the selfie cameras - while other manufacturers wholeheartedly adopted the infamous solution, Sony has been reluctant to introduce it and brought it only in the Xperia L4.
This phone is said to have a 5.5” screen. The back also doesn’t impress much - dual cameras and a single LED flash. Given that this phone has a 3.5 mm audio jack, it could very well be aimed at users on a budget rather than those looking for a compact Android flagship.
